Slideshow Process
When I first heard of the assignment for a slideshow, I really wasn’t sure what type of theme to do. After thinking about it for a while, I decided I wanted to do something that left a message or had a meaning to it. Inspired by my recent missions trip to Mexico, I decided upon the theme of hunger/poverty.
After deciding on my theme, I needed to find pictures. I went on Google and I searched and found all of my pictures. I then proceeded to resize them so they were all the same size.
After resizing, I duplicated the layer and made one layer black and white and placed that layer in the front. I erased the lip area from each person in the picture, so that the colour from their lips showed through from the layer beneath it. I then went in and changed some colouring and shadows, and also used the burn tool to darken the pictures up.
Next, I need to find something that was contradictory to scan in. I played with the idea of scanning food in, or food labels and I decided to scan in chocolate bars (which are my weakness) and other candy. The chocolate bars turned out, but the other candy didn’t, so I decided to settle on just using the chocolate bars and finding other pictures of people eating a lot of food.
I rearranged my pictures in the Photoshop Elements slideshow maker and picked music to go along with the pictures.
This project really inspired me to keep this topic on my mind, and to think about what is going on in the world more often than I actually do. Seeing the pictures of these children starving was really hard, and I hope that I can remember those images in my mind.
